The Change One Thing App is tool to help improve diabetes self-management for people with severe mental illness.
The overall aim of this project is to develop and test a bespoke educational package to help people with severe mental illness and diabetes to manage their diabetes better. We also want to explore how this approach can be adapted for other long-term conditions.

We must have a legal basis to process your personal information. Our lawful basis or legal reason which allows processing of your personal information collected via the App are continued the following laws.
Who we share your personal information with?
Your personal information will be shared internally within the university and with other accredited research authorities acting on behalf of the university. It may also be shared with other Universities for research purposes only and as already consented as part of the Diamonds Research Programme. However, we will inform you if we intend to share your data in such circumstances.
Where necessary and legally permitted your personal information may also be shared with organisations such as the Emergency Services such as the Police and other law enforcement agencies if it is deemed your mental health status is seen to be at immediate risk to either yourself or others.
Using your personal information for other purposes
We will not process your personal information for any other purpose other than for which it was collected, unless any secondary purpose is fully compatible with this original purpose. This is except where we are required to disclose your personal information in accordance with legislation for example in relation to the prevention and detection of crime, counter terrorism, safeguarding, legal proceedings or to protect the interests of you or another.
Any reporting on research collected regarding the results of the research will be fully anonymised before publication.
Transfers of personal information to a third country
Personal information is not routinely transferred to a third country (outside of the UK), but it is possible where a contractor is acting on behalf of the university. In these circumstances contractual safeguards would be made to ensure the safety of your personal information.
How long we will retain your personal information for
Personal information will be held for no longer than necessary depending on the type of data and in accordance with our retention and disposal policies. For most data it will not be necessary to retain for more than 6 years from completion of the matter in accordance with the Limitation Act 1980.
What are my rights in relation to my personal information?
You have the right to access the personal information we hold about you; to request we rectify or erase your personal information; to object to or restrict processing in certain circumstances.
